Megaboard Wall Sheathing

Megaboard Sheathing delivers remarkable shear strength, fire resistance and structural performance in a single layer solution.

Fastened to steel or timber-framing studs, Megaboard Sheathing can achieve more than 3,500 PLF nominal shear capacity to resist seismic and lateral wind forces on your building.

In common with all Megaboard products, Megaboard Sheathing is non-combustible per IAMPO listings for up to 2-hour fire rating, and has exceptional load-bearing strength.

Uniquely, these exceptional composite characteristics come from a single integral panel – a lightweight solution which cannot delaminate and is resistant to water, mold and insect damage.

Water, Mold & Insect Resistant

Inorganic cementitious materials will not grow mold (per ASTM G 21 0/0), and ensure zero nutritional value for complete resistance to termites and all wood-boring insects.

Sound Insulating

A unique formulation which can help building designers and contractors achieve critical sound ratings, with the ability to reach 55+ STC/IIC ratings.

Dimensionally Accurate & Stable

Manufactured to class-leading tolerances for on- and off-site precision. Resistance to water means panels remains structural while wet, and will not delaminate, warp, expand or bow.

Megaboard’s unique formulation – a high density and quality of cementitious material around a six-layer fiberglass reinforcement mesh – has been developed over more than a decade and tested at labs throughout the US and Canada for class-leading results in everything from fire resistance and sound insulation to shear, deflection and shear diaphragm strength.

5/8” and 1/2” wall sheathing panel.
Factory sealed with square end.
Worked with regular wood working tools (cuts with a standard carbide tip).
Mechanically fastened directly to steel (screwed) or wood (nailed) framing studs.
Durable, lightweight, silica and toxin free for easy on-site handling.
Building Code approvals including:
- IAPMO Certified and listed, non-combustible for use in all type of non- combustible construction.
- 2 hrs. rated wall assemblies tested in accordance with ASTM E119 and recognized under IAPMO UES ER-0710. Refer to Section 3.4 and Table 8 for approved assembly configurations and limitations.
- MEGABOARD Structural Panels are evaluated under IAPMO UES ER-0710 for use in shear wall assemblies, subject to the approved configurations, design values, and limitations specified in the report.
